Why Businesses Need To Integrate AI and The Metaverse Into Their Operations

The importance of meta-entrepreneurship cannot be underestimated or ignored, as it is positioned to transform various aspects of society and the economy. Organizations must not only understand business opportunities enabled by the metaverse, but also prepare for the challenges and digital transformation in the metaverse era (Siau, K. et al., 2024). In the area of digital entrepreneurship, the modern businesses may face a gap in comprehending how to effectively implement AI, and metaverse platforms into their business operations. While standalone use of these AI tools have demonstrated potential, there still remains little theoretical guidance on their combined effects. Hence, entrepreneurs do not have clear frameworks for using these technologies for enhanced value creation in a tech entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Why This Problem Matters for Business In The Tech Startup Area

Startups that master the orchestration of AI and metaverse technologies stand to leapfrog incumbents by rapidly prototyping products, automating complex workflows, and co-creating value with customers in immersive environments. There is a probability that without guidance on the study of tech in startups many startup ventures may under-utilize AI tools or not use them to its full capabilities. Combining AI with the entrepreneurial process could provide a super tool with the potential for even greater variety in outcomes. However, it can also lead to destructive consequences when people do not know how to use the tool, how the tool works, or what the full implications of using the tool will be (Shepherd, D. et al., 2022). Some risks may range from AI driven bias in decision making, intellectual property infringement, to being overdependent on the technology without fact checking. Hence, Entrepreneurs will need to make sure they stay informed and on top of emerging regulations, and uphold ethical standards. Without addressing the problem, we might see a future where companies have a shortage of employees that are knowledgeable and able to integrate AI development into the businesses. The gap in such skills can additionally hold back tech startups to scale the use of AI and virtual reality implementations. Hence, the lack of theoretical research for combining AI, and metaverse technologies represents an organizational challenge. Addressing this gap will be important for tech startups in these current times and even more in the future.

Biblical Integration

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”—1 Peter 4:10 (NIV). This verse resonated to me as the skills needed to effectively implement AI and virtual reality initiatives into a tech startup requires technical skills. For example skills in computer engineering and coding would seem to be the most essential, but basic know-how of the technology can also help with business technology operations. AI can represent the result of human creativity, and if one would say that our creativity is a gift from God, then such gift should be used to serve others in a global scale.
